Our growing organization is looking for outreach volunteers. Read the qualifications below if you’d like to help serve your community and give back to others.
Responsibilities:
Assist with local community outreach efforts
Passion and commitment to helping the unhoused community
Assist on the event day with set-up, client assistance, or clean-up.
Time Commitment:
Volunteers are asked to commit at least 2.5 hours per event.
Qualifications:
Must have the ability to work as part of a team
Experience in customer service and community outreach preferred
Excellent organizational and presentation skills
Must have own transportation to and from outreach events
Attends scheduled outreach events as agreed

Volunteer Treasurer- Board of Directors
The treasurer ensures that the organization is a good steward of charitable donations and the tax-exempt status, providing oversight of the organization’s fiscal integrity and assisting the board in meeting its mandate to govern. The treasurer must attend all scheduled meetings and actively seek to maintain current knowledge of the organization, its programs, bylaws, and articles of incorporation. The treasurer must know nonprofit accounting practices, non-profit tax laws, and fiscal record-keeping. Service on Opal’s Heart Board of Directors is without remuneration.
Time Commitment
Six meetings per year- approximately 2 hours each
Special meetings throughout the year may occur
Time Commitment: at least 10 hours/month
Responsibilities
Reconciles bank accounts and produces financial statements, which they present at board meetings; Ensures tax-related documents and legal forms are filed on time, such as the documents required to maintain the organization’s tax-exempt status; Serves as chair of the finance committee and financial officer of the organization; Manages, with the finance committee, the board’s review of and action on its financial responsibilities; Assists the chief executive officer in preparing the annual budget and presenting it to the board for approval; Reviews the yearly audit and answers board members’ questions.
Fundraising
Participates in fundraising events
Identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major individual donors, corporations, and foundation gifts
Board terms/participation
Opal’s Heart Board Members will serve a one-year term to be eligible for re-appointment for an additional three-year period. Board members are encouraged to remain active during each period.
Qualifications
This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual passionate about the mission/vision/values of Opal’s Heart.
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
Excellent Communication skills- verbal, written, and organizational skills
Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Email, Applications, etc
Experience working with non-profit organizations
Compassion/passion and desire to serve the homeless and impoverished community
Strong economics or accounting background
Knowledge of capital markets, accounting, and business finance
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, accounting, inventory, and payroll systems
Ability to collaborate with team members and drive results
Ability to interpret a wide variety of laws and regulations
